This September, all Lao Grade 1 students will start the school-year with a new curriculum. The curriculum revision is significant as it is nationwide and entails a new pedagogical approach
Grades 2-5 will be renewed grade by grade through to 2023. The new curriculum with new learning and teaching materials will contribute to better learning outcomes for the young Lao children but it will require a change in teaching and learning behaviors.
To raise awareness and motivation on this coming change, the Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR has just released a TV spot.
It officially announces the new curriculum and shows young Grade 1 students discovering with great excitement their set of new textbooks. The new textbooks have been designed to be interesting and engaging for young children. They are colourful and full of illustrations to make learning fun. They also contain plenty of practice activities to engage the children stronger and contribute to their learning.
The TV spot lasts one minute and is broadcasted on Lao National TV Channel 1during the news and the Education program. The TV campaign started on Tuesday 6 August and will last one month. It was produced by the Information Media Center of the MoES with the support of BEQUAL.
This campaign will surely get the children motivated and excited to receive their new set of textbooks!
