We are looking to pilot new and innovative activities and analysis to strengthen provincial, district, school and community capacity to manage, coordinate and implement education activities at a local level
The BEQUAL Education Innovation Fund (BEIF) is a grants program encouraging provinces, districts and villages to provide funding for their communities’ educational activities. The grants range from AU$10,000 up to a maximum of AU$200,000 and will be awarded to government agencies, non-government and non-profit organisations as Innovation Fund partners.
The Fund is a flexible way to support communities’ emerging needs and new opportunities, with funded activities supporting one or more of BEQUAL’s five key result areas (link) and focusing on new approaches and practices to address the challenges in delivering both quality and access to primary-level education for children in disadvantaged communities.
Examples activities that could be funded under the BEQUAL Education Innovation Fund include:
- New approaches to teaching Lao Language to boys and girls
- Action at community level to increase acceptance of, and demand for, girls’ education.
- Piloting of new local curriculum content designed to strengthen learning outcomes at the school level
- The potential to use different methodologies in order to teach Lao language at grade 1 in predominantly ethnic schools in ways that improve literacy outcomes
- Interventions that can improve learning readiness, mentoring and counselling activities, strategies for improved nutrition, as well as activities involving parent-child interactions.
- Activities that support children with disabilities to attend and stay in school.
- Activities that promote a culture of reading and learning.
